Watson's late magic secures Shanghai title in playoff

SHANGHAI (Reuters) - American Bubba Watson sank a 30-yard bunker shot for eagle at the par-five 18th to earn a spot in a playoff and then drained a lengthy birdie putt on the same hole minutes later to win the WGC-HSBC Champions tournament on Sunday.

Watson, the reigning U.S. Masters champion, added another big title to his resume when he holed from about 18 feet at the first extra hole to edge South African Tim Clark after the pair finished tied on 11-under-par 277 at Sheshan Golf Club.

Clark missed his birdie chance from about 20 feet, his putt holding a good line but running out of steam just inches from the hole.

Earlier, Clark had birdied the final hole in regulation to card 69, while Watson shot 70 in the same penultimate group.

They finished one shot ahead of Northern Irishman Graeme McDowell, Japan's Hiroshi Iwata and American Rickie Fowler after an exciting final round in which five players were tied for the lead late in the round.

McDowell, who had led the $8.5 million tournament for the first three days, and Iwata both had good birdie chances to join the playoff but their putts slid left of the hole.

Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
