Wanna See Tiger And The USA Ryder Cup Team Practice? Get Down To Gleneagles On 12th July Weekend

If you cannot get tickets for the Ryder Cup, here's something that might make it up for you.  USA Ryder Cup team captain Tom Watson has organized a reconnaissance mission for about 20 potential players next weekend.

Concerned that the European's know the Gleneagles Track like the back of their hands,  Watson wants to have a bonding/fact finding weekend to generate team spirit and learn the nuances of the course.

â€œSome of these players, the European players, have played that golf course in competition, played it four, five, six times, maybe 12 times,” Watson told the Golf Channel. “That's just the way the Europeans pick their Ryder Cup sites. It's usually a site where they've held the European Tour tournament, so their players are more familiar with the golf course for the Ryder Cup.”

With Jordan Spieth playing the John Deere Classic and others such Phil Mickelson, Jimmy Walker and Rickie Fowler all entered to play the Scottish Open at Royal Aberdeen, it is unclear whether Watson will succeed in his efforts to get a crowd.

Watson said yesterday  â€œabout four or five” have so far confirmed their attendance but that is expected to become over a dozen with Tiger Woods also rumoured to be travelling.
