LPGA's Amy Yang birdies every hole on the back nine, shoots 27
Lynn Marriott and Pia Nilsson's Vision54 of which Annika Sorenstam is a disciple is based on the principle that itâs possible to birdie every hole and shoot 54. LPGA player Amy Yang got it half right in the final round of the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship in Incheon, South Korea, on Sunday.
Yang birdied all nine holes on the back nine, 27 strokes in all, in shooting a final-round 62 that enabled her to tie for fourth. She equaled Beth Daniel's LPGA record for consecutive birdies.
"I never thought about it. Never thought about it,â Yang said. âI donât know what just happened. I mean, if it can be a history, so honored.
âI made a couple of birdies to start the day but after a bogey [on the sixth hole], I figured this would be just another ordinary day. Then I started hitting the ball much better on the back nine and making every putt. I donât think there was any one particular turning point. I just kept on hitting the ball and making putts. This is absolutely incredible.â
