Tiger Woods Officially Announces US Open Will Have Asterisk

Remember when Padraig Harrington won The Open and PGA Championship in 2008 and some smart alec tried to demean the achievement by suggesting they put an asterisk beside his name that year?  Do you remember?  Because Tiger Woods was not playing.

Well it's official, the US Open at Pinehurst can have an asterisk too, Tiger has still nor recovered from his back injury.  He officially announced his withdrawal via a statement on his website.  Interesting to me however was not declaring ;in this statement whether he will play or miss The Open Championship.

The statement:
 Tiger Woods will not play in the 114th U.S. Open at Pinehurst No. 2 in Pinehurst, N.C., next month, he announced Wednesday. He is still rehabbing after undergoing microdiscectomy surgery for a pinched nerve in his back on March 31.

"Unfortunately, I won't be there because I'm not yet physically able to play competitive golf," Woods said. "I'd like to convey my regrets to the USGA leadership, the volunteers and the fans that I won't be at Pinehurst. The U.S. Open is very important to me, and I know it's going to be a great week. Despite missing the first two majors, and several other important tournaments, I remain very optimistic about this year and my future."
This marks the sixth major championship Tiger has missed due to injuries. After winning the U.S. Open at Torrey Pines in 2008 while playing with a broken leg, he underwent knee surgery and was sidelined for eight months, missing The Open Championship and PGA Championship.
In 2011, knee and Achilles injuries forced him to sit out four months of the season, and he missed the U.S. Open and The Open Championship.
Tiger has not competed since the last round of the WGC-Cadillac Championship on March 9. He fired a third-round 66 that vaulted him back into contention but was in obvious pain and struggled the following day.

Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
