2013 Africa Open Betting Preview and Tips
Winner Alright:
Last week we tipped Richard Sterne to victory at the Joburg Open at odds of 20/1
Check out my Northern Trust Open Tips here
Thomas Aiken 11/1
The star home player in the field. Aiken was really impressive in tying sixth last week at the Joburg Open after better golf in Qatar. Second by just one shot to Charl Schwartzel in 2010, Aiken has the game to take this.
Jaco Van Zyl 16/1
Itâs Jaco 92nd European Tour start this week and heâs improving all the time. Scored six top 10âs in 2012 with his best finishes coming at home in South Africa. Tied for 11th on his second start of the season in Joburg. Very strong here with a fourth and tied fourth in the past two stagings respectively. In the absence of Louis, Charl, George and co. this week, thereâs a big opportunity for a win.
Jâbe Kruger 27/1
All Jâbe is missing is one consistent week. In his last four events on the European Tour he had posted two rounds in the sixties and two in the seventies. He certainly has the game to go low and did well with a top 10 in Abu Dhabi. You know Iâm a believer in the 365 day form cycle and this time last year Jâbe was winning at the Avantha Masters. One to watch.
Ricardo Santos 18/1
Last seasonâs Madeira Island Open champ has got off to a flyer with three top-10âs in his last three events. Fourth in Abu Dhabi, seventh in Dubai and then tied third in Joburg last week. Missed the cut in East London last year, but seems a different animal this time around.
Lorenzo Gagli 36/1
The longest odds of my tips this week is Lorenzo Gagli. Without a top 10 in 2012 the Italian made a breakthrough with a tied ninth in Joburg last week. With a 2013 formline of 32, 22, 15, 9, I give Lorenzo an each way shout. One of these days his driving and irons will match his putting prowess and he will do serious damage! Letâs hope itâs this week.
