Join Me at Lough Erne Golf Resort on 14th March 2013 for Doc’s Dawn Raid

Image
It’s the first Doc’s Dawn Raid of the year and boy do I have a treat for you!  We are heading North to the beautiful  Lough Erne Golf Resort in Fermanagh, Northern Ireland.  You all know Lough Erne Golf Resort , championed by Rory McIlroy as a “great place to play, a great place to stay.” I need 12 golfers of all abilities to join me at Dawn on Thursday morning, the 14th March, for Golfbidder club testing followed by breakfast and 18 holes on the fabulous Sir Nick Faldo Championship Course at Lough Erne Golf Resort. As always we’ll head to the driving range at the crack of dawn to warm up and film and test a variety of Golfbidder clubs from top manufacturers. I’ll be there with the camera to record your reviews which will form part of videos to help potential buyers on the Golfbidder website. So glad rags and game face on! Following testing the clubs on the range, we’ll grab a quick brekkie then head out to enjoy 18 holes on the Faldo Championship Course ...

2013 Honda Classic Betting Preview And Tips

Image
PGA National Champion Course, Palm Beach Gardens, FL.  Tiger Woods 10/1 Tiger Woods can be got at 10/1 in early betting following his matchplay loss to Charles Howell and the fact that Rory McIlroy is in the field. Woods returns to the Champions Course having signed off with a final round of 62 last year to climb from nowhere into a tie for second. Being that this is the longest odds you may get Woods at all season, I’d have a punt on him if I were you. Might pay for a new driver! Graeme McDowell 36/1 GMac will have taken a lot of positives away from a good week at Dove Mountain where he made lots of birdies en route to the quarter final stage. That followed a missed cut on his 2013 debut at Riviera and gave him much needed game time. Tied sixth here in 2011 and again top tenned with a T9 last year, which was all the more impressive given a 73 in his first round. A better week in store for GMac on the toughest of tracks. Charl Schwartzel 15/1 Has Charl shot his bolt or can h...

Video: Graeme McDowell Beaten Senseless By UFC Animal After Poker Game Altercation

Image
by Ron for GolfCentralDaily.com UFC legend Mike Bender this morning defended his actions as ‘self defence’ after a vicious attack left golfer Graeme McDowell bloodied and battered. According to reports GMac was ‘beaten to a pulp’ by Bender, when what started as a friendly poker game at the fighters Lake Nona house turned nasty when the Northern Irishman made disparaging remarks about the UFC and it’s fighters.  Going all in early in the game with a pair of twos, McDowell lost all his chips to trip sevens and was then forced to sit and wait for two hours at the table while his friends drank beer, laughed, joked and folded in case they too would lose chips. Apparently bored and frustrated by the way the evening was unfolding, GMac rounded on two time UFC Offalslam Champion Bender by declaring he was heading out to the tattoo artists to get “some stupid f*cking tribal patterns tattooed  all the way up my arms and the words ‘honour’ and ‘loyalty’ inked acro...

Pictures: Rory McIlroy To Debut New Prototype Nike Method 006 Putter At WGC Matchplay

Image
Rory McIlroy will use a new version of the Nike Method 006 putter this week at the WGC Accenture World Matchplay.  After switching his original Nike Method 006 putter out of the bag in favour of his old Scotty Cameron after just one round in Dubai, McIlroy’s  team of Nike chefs put on their aprons and headed back into The Oven with the remit to come up with something the world number one would be more comfortable with. Rory’s prototype 006 face above, compared to my retail version one below. The putter McIlroy will use in Arizona will have the aesthetics of the retail version of the Nike Method 006, but don’t be fooled.  It’s not the same. The new prototype has a standard plumbers neck with a thinner topline and is more rounded around the edges (not unlike the Scotty Cameron).  It is 6 grams heavier than the original Method 006 he used in Abu Dhabi.  Unlike the “midnight” colour of the retail version of this putter, Rory’s is a bright stainles...

Lydia Ko Saved By Skippy The Bush Kangaroo After Mineshaft Incident

Image
Runaway Australian Women’s Open first round leader Lydia Ko is this morning recovering after a surviving a harrowing overnight ordeal.  It’s thought that the amateur star spent up to eight hours stuck down an old mineshaft after apparently falling in following her opening round. The teenager was eventually discovered and rescued by Skippy The Bush Kangaroo who happened to be carrying out a routine mineshaft patrol around the Royal Canberra course. It is as yet unclear how Ko became trapped.  Canberra police spokesman, Detective Daniel Braxton, said that though the South Korean star was awake and has been interviewed “nobody had a Goddamn notion what bloody language the flamin’ sheila” was speaking. Karrie Webb and Jiyai Shin, who were seen giggling and holding hands as the skipped away from the disused mine around the time of the incident, claimed they were simply carrying out a post round core mobility training session in the area had no comment when questioned...

Higgs On Tour: David Higgins Diary Part 3. So Close in Africa

Image
Hi everyone. David here. I ALMOST had a great week at the Africa Open.  Almost! I was in the top 10 on the leaderboard deep into the event and finished in a tie for 17th, but I was really not far off. I hit some lovely shots during the final round, but to be honest I just wasn’t holing out as well as i should have been.  As soon as I saw the course and windy conditions at the East London course, I knew it would suit me.   Even the road in the town by the sea reminded me of my own home town of Waterville in Ireland! If you thought the winds looked strong on TV, trust me they were really strong!  Seeing my name high on the leaderboard for so long was super for me. I am out here to win an event this year, so getting my name up there as often as possible is all part of achieving that goal. Pic: East London looked a bit like home! I was very comfortable being in contention and it was great to get the juices flowing again and to feel that pressure. You could as...

2013 Africa Open Betting Preview and Tips

Winner Alright: Last week we tipped Richard Sterne to victory at the Joburg Open at odds of 20/1 Check out my Northern Trust Open Tips here Thomas Aiken 11/1 The star home player in the field. Aiken was really impressive in tying sixth last week at the Joburg Open after better golf in Qatar.  Second by just one shot to Charl Schwartzel in 2010, Aiken has the game to take this.   Jaco Van Zyl 16/1 It’s Jaco 92nd European Tour start this week and he’s improving all the time.  Scored six top 10’s in 2012 with his best finishes coming at home in South Africa.  Tied for 11th on his second start of the season in Joburg.  Very strong here with a fourth and tied fourth in the past two stagings respectively.  In the absence of Louis, Charl, George and co. this week, there’s a big opportunity for a win.   J’be Kruger 27/1 All J’be is missing is one consistent week. In his last four events on the European Tour he had posted two rounds in the ...

2013 WGC Accenture Matchplay Golf Betting Preview and Tips. Match By Match Predictions

Image
We’ve had great success over the past couple of weeks with our strokeplay predictions, so we can afford to have some fun this week.  All sense of form and logic always goes out the window in the desert but nonetheless we’ve gone through the brackets match by match to pick our winners. Here we go.   Bobby Jones Bracket Charl Schwartzel  18/1 Charl Schwartzel hasn’t been outside the top-5 in his last five events and has a second in Joburg and third in Riviera in his two starts already this season.  I see him progressing to the final of the Jones bracket where a possible match with Rory McIlroy awaits.  As to who is using their Nike clubs best at the moment, it has to be Charl.  He lost to Sang Moon Bae narrowly last year and Bae went on to have a great tournament.  Tiredness may be a factor. Ben Hogan Bracket Matt Kuchar 35/1 Kuch showed us what he could do in the opening round at Riviera last week, shooting a 64.  He always seems...
