Peter Malnati just won his first PGA Tour title thanks to an all-time putting week

The stat you'll hear most surrounding Peter Malnati's win at the Sanderson Farms Championship on Monday is that he's the fifth first-time winner on the PGA Tour this season in five events. That's cool and all, but it's a pair of remarkable putting statistics that paved the way for Malnati's maiden victory.

We'll start with strokes gained/putting, where Malnati finished the week at +11.85. That means he gained 11.85 strokes on the rest of the field over the four rounds, or nearly three strokes (2.96) per round. Aaron Baddeley finished second in that category for the event (8.22) and David Toms finished third (5.93). Not surprisingly, both Toms (T-2) and Baddeley (T-4) finished in the top five.

To put that 2.96 number in perspective, Baddeley led the tour in the stat last year at .717. So, yeah, Malnati was on fire.

If the strokes gained/putting stat still doesn't do it for you, how about a more visual metric? For the week, Malnati made an incredible 495 feet and seven inches of putts. That included at least one make from 32 feet or longer in each round as well as that three-footer for par on the final hole that sealed his one-shot win over Toms and William McGirt.

After a tough rookie season on the PGA Tour in 2014, Malnati finished fourth on the Web.com Tour regular season money list this year to regain his card for the 2015-16 season. Although his win in an opposite-field event won't earn him an automatic Masters invite, he now has job security for two more years after this season. And then there's this:

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
