Ben Crenshaw’s gift from President George W. Bush: A painting of Crenshaw called ‘The Putter’

Ben Crenshaw’s friendship with President George W. Bush dates to the early ‘80s, when they met at Midland Country Club in Midland, Texas.

Crenshaw employed “43” to inspire the U.S. team at the ’99 Ryder Cup, and when Crenshaw played in his final Masters last April, Bush sent him a couple of emails, one of them thanking Crenshaw for shooting 43 on the front nine on Thursday.

At any rate, Crenshaw and his wife Julie received a special gift from Bush, an amateur artist. Julie posted a photo of Crenshaw with it and posted it on Instagram:

Julie wrote: “Ben’s pal painted him at Kennebunkport this summer. Pretty cool 30th Anniversary present!! It's called 'The Putter!’ Thank you @georgewbush #priclessmoment.”

Pretty cool, indeed.
