CHARLOTTE COUNTY, FL - A Charlotte County golf course is getting worldwide attention, not for the game of golf so much, but for giant alligators. We brought this story several days ago when a photo of a large gator roaming the course drew viral-like notice.

We went back to Myakka Pines to see if the attention has affected business.

What we found was a number of likes and comments on the club's Facebook account. Some doubted the pictures authenticity but the attention is drawing a crowd.

The once hidden gem is now out there as an unofficial nature center.

"People calling from all parts of the country-New York, California, Arizona," said Frank Perilli who is the head golf professional. "They don't care about the golf game, they just want to see the gators."

The course, built in the 1970's is nestled in muck, swamp-- a muddy mess that is great apparently for growing gators large.

While no giant gators greeted us on this day, several smaller versions showed up. They are known to the club members as the future stars of Myakka Pines.

Now the push is on to name the viral gator so the club has received hundreds of ideas already on their Facebook which you can link here.
