Growing up, Billy Nachman and Hobson Brown cringed at “bacon collar,” their term for when the corners of a collared golf shirt roll up. The collars they make at the Austin, Texas-based company they founded, Criquet Shirts, include removable collar stays, and the latest design refines the stays’ angle.

“We put the collar stay more at the front of the collar, to keep that front edge crisp,” says Mr. Nachman.
