2012 Thailand Golf Championship Betting Preview and Tips

thai_securityLee Westwood steamed home here last year having almost shot a 59 on day one but given his current form it’s tough to see a repeat.  Not to say that Westwood wont contend, but my money will be on South African Charl Schwartzel who has found his groove recently clocking up a top five at the South African Open and a tied third at the DP World Championship.  Charl finished second here last year at 15-under par, seven shots behind Westwood. The 7,453-yard Amata Spring championship course sets up well for the former Masters champion and he’s tip here. 

Sergio Garcia 9/1

Are Asian greens that bit more suited to Sergio? I certainly think so and the Spaniard finishes out a successful year with a real shot at a win this week. Since his win at The Wyndham back in August El Nino has only played four European/PGA Tour events but crucially hasn’t finished outside the top 25 in any. Third at the Barclays and a top 10 in Dubai during an extraordinary week of birdies and bogeys mean Garcia’s odds are tighter than normal.

Simon Dyson 34/1

thaiWe’ve only seen flashes of the Dyson we know this season but the Englishman loves coming back to Asia where he plied his trade during the formative years.  A former winner of the Asian Tour Order Of Merit, Dyson will have no trouble adapting to the conditions having played played on the winning Royal Trophy team here in 2010 and tied for fourth in the inaugural staging of the tournament last season.

 

Chawalit Plaphol  & Masanori Kobayashi 151/1

These are long odds fun bets but not without a little nouse.  Chawalit Plaphol tied for fourth here last year and is a three time winner on the Asian Tour.  Form of late on the Asian Tour has been poor but you can never discount a player on his return to a happy hunting ground. Plaphol opened with a 73 last year, as opposed to Westwood’s 60, and still tied fourth, so is definitely worth a euro.

As is Japanese stalwart Masanori Kobayashi also at 151/1.  He won the Asia Pacific Panasonic Open during the year.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! When I rocked in, several men (and one woman) were gathered around an iphone ogling and sharing  two pics of who they claimed were Holly Sonders naked. Now I have to hold my hands up and say, I had to google her to find out she’s from The Golf Channel. Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
