Jack's advice to Tiger: Please fix yourself - Golf Channel (press release) (blog)

DUBLIN, Ohio â€" Tiger Woods has not been heard from since he walked off the 18th green with an 85 in the third round of the Memorial, but if he tuned in to the telecast he would have received some advice from the tournament’s host.

Jack Nicklaus has often shared tips with younger players, including Woods. Nicklaus spoke at length about Woods’ current woes and says he believes the best solution is to simplify things.

“Tiger’s running from teacher to teacher. In today’s technology, I think Tiger just needs to go back and review some of his own things rather than listen to somebody else,” Nicklaus said. “He’s the only one inside him who knows what’s really going on. He’s the only one who’s been able to fix what he’s got.”

Woods has been working with swing consultant Chris Como since November, and Saturday he failed to break 80 for the second time this season. Nicklaus feels that Woods’ biggest problem is his lack of competitive rounds, but he believes Woods will eventually get back on track.

“I think he’ll get it back, I still do,” Nicklaus said. “He’s just too focused, he’s too hard of a worker, and he’s got such a great work ethic. It’s just going to be a lesson for him.”

Nicklaus closed his comments with a sort of plea to Woods, who has won this event five times but will begin the final round 27 shots behind leader Justin Rose.

“He’s got to help himself, and he’s got to get where he can take the golf club, and take it back and know where the ball is going,” Nicklaus said. “Please go do that, because the game needs you, Tiger. You’re a good player, you’re a good guy and we miss the game you’ve been playing.”
