McGinley Guess Who: Both Of Them Assure Me It's Not Going To Affect Anything
With the Horizon court battle popping up and rearing its ugly little head just at the wrong time for Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell as they prepare for the Ryder Cup, captain Paul McGinley today played down any tensions between the men.
On the face of it that looks pretty positive but I'm not so sure. Where they were once blood brothers, now both men feel the need to assure Paul that everything will be okay. That's not okay. On days one and two the Ryder Cup is all about pairings, about chemistry, about teamwork, about passion, about trust, about support when one player has a rough spell. Okay wont cut it.
Is it safer to pair Rory and GMac in the fourballs where they can both play their own games? What if they play foursomes, don't connect and get turned over badly in their first match?
This is a problem Paul McGinley doesn't need and luckily he's the kind of guy who can fashion a fix. But first the two players need to demonstrate that assurance they have given their captain.

"It's not a concern," McGinley said at his presser. "It has been going for a year and both have had very strong years.McGinners further intimated both men will play together.
"Rory's had arguably his best year ever and Graeme won the French Open. It has not affected their performance and both of them have assured me it's not going to affect anything in the team room."
"I would be very surprised if they don't play together although I'm not going to write it in stone."
