Boys golf: State sectional results for Monday, May 11 - NJ.com

• Morristown's Evan Quinn, Paramus earn titles

• Notre Dame's Mike Winters repeats in South A


 Over the course of two days, 10 sectional tournaments were played across the state, resulting in 20 teams and 50 individuals qualifying for the Tournament of Champions at the Hopewell Valley Country Club on May 18.

 Paramus earned the unexpected title at the North Jersey, Group 3 sectional by shooting a 317 to knock out Morristown, No. 8 in the NJ.com Top 20. Northern Highlands finished one stroke behind Paramus (318) in regulation and had to take on Morristown in a two-hole playoff to qualify for the ToC.

Teams throughout Bergen County consistently dominated the northern sectionals. No. 1 Bergen Catholic captured the North Jersey, Non-Public crown after shooting a 312 in Belleville on Tuesday. No. 6 Don Bosco qualified with a score of 319. Bergen Catholic has been the top team all season with a record of 30-0 and seven tournament wins all ready. The Crusaders are eager to defend its Tournament of Champions title next week

 Westwood (320) took first place at the North Jersey, Group 2 tournament at the Bowling Green Golf Course in Oak Ridge. Pascack Hills followed with a 325 to advance to the Tournament of Champions

 Christian Brothers, No. 2 in the NJ.com Top 20, secured yet another crown at the Central/South Jersey, Non-Public A Tournament in Ewing. The Monmouth County and Shore Conference Tournament winners recorded a 308 to edge out No. 9 St. Augustine (313). St. Augustine, the recent Carl Arena Tournament champions, will also return to the Cherry Valley Golf course this year.

Montgomery, No. 6 in the NJ.com Top 20, totaled a 316 to take first in the Central/South Jersey, Group 4 flight in Linwood. The winners of the Cherry Valley Invitational beat out East Brunswick (325). 

Haddonfield finished on top in the Central/South Jersey, Group 1 field with a 313. Cinnaminson narrowly missed the victory, falling to Haddonfield by one stroke (314). Haddonfield toppled Cinnaminson by five strokes at the Carl Arena Tournament last week for a sixth place finish.
