Graham DeLaet 33/1
The form man in the field. Burst through with top 3 finishes in the Barclays and Deutsche Bank in the Playoffs and finished 2013 with a seventh at the CIMB and a sixth at the WGC HSBC Champions. The Canadian took up right where he left off with a T2 at The Farmers last week. With Scottsdale set to be set up 64-yards shorter than 2013 at 7,152 yards it throws the tournament wide open but nobody will start more confident than Graham.

Webb Simpson 16/1
Finished 2013 very strongly with his win at The Shriners along with two other top 10’s and hit the ground running with a T3 at the Hyundai Tournament Of Champions. The top 10 streak was broken with a T23 at The Humana which has to be taken with a pinch of salt given that Webb got it to -18 for the week. Simpson didn’t play here last year but finished T8 on both previous occasions he competed in 2012 and 2011. Priced about right at 16/1.
Ryan Moore 28/1
Loving Ryan’s new found consistency. I make it six top 25s in his last seven Tour starts dating back to the BMW Championship in September. That of course includes his CIMB win in October. T10 at the Hyundai TOC indicated he’s continuing the good form into 2014. Finished fourth last year, 14th in 2010 and T6 in 2009 on statistically the easiest course on the PGA Tour roster.
Gary Woodland 33/1
Bomber in form and one thing is for sure, bombers are not shut out in Phoenix. If JB Holmes and Kyle Stanley could muscle their way to victory around TPC Scottsdale then Woodland certainly has a great chance. Okay he may have dropped off the leaderboard to a T10 at Torrey Pines last week but that is still four top 25’s in his last five events. Since reinventing his swing with Butch, Gary has won the Reno Tahoe and finished second twice. A best here of T5 in 2011 when Mark Wilson beat him by three shots.
Ben Crane 80/1
The bookies have gone right off Ben after his terrible Torrey tribulations last week but I’m saying not to let that put you off too much. To his credit Crane played all four rounds and battled back from an opening 76 to do so. There’s acres of space in TPC Scottsdale which is more likely to a birdiefest a la The Humana a couple of weeks ago where Crane scored a T9. Crane finished solo second to Kyle Stanley here in 2012 and was just outside the top 10 in 2013. Also had a T4 back in 2008. Don’t rule him out.
Best Of The Rest
Marc Leishman at 40/1 was very impressive last week in his T2 at Torrey Pines. The Aussie also scored a fifth at the Sony Open and should be on the leaderboard again this week. I always keep an eye on Martin Laird at 80/1 here also. He tied third in 2011.
