Jordan Spieth was edged out in another big yearly award, but at least it was by another golfer (sort of)

It's hard to top the year Jordan Spieth had. But in terms of the yearly national sports awards, Spieth's 2015 is coming up just shy of top recognition.

The Associated Press named NBA MVP Stephen Curry the 2015 Male Athlete of the Year, an honor that has been given out since 1931. Serena Williams took home the women's award.

Williams edged out Spieth for Sports Illustrated's Sportsperson of the Year award, too, leaving Spieth to rest on his two major wins, a FedEx Cup title and a boatload of cash. That's a year topped by very few 22-year-old golfers in history.

Interestingly, neither Jack Nicklaus nor Arnold Palmer ever won the AP male athlete of the year. Tiger Woods is a four-time recipient of the award (winning in 1997, 1999, 2000 and 2006), and Lee Trevino took it home in 1971. Besides that, golfers haven't gotten too much love from the Associated Press voters.

At least the AP award went to another golfer in Curry. The Golden State Warrior star, who also graced our December 2015 cover of Golf Digest, is a legitimate scratch golfer. Curry has teed it up with President Obama in 2015 and shot a 70 at Pebble Beach in May (then signed autographs and posed for photos with fans in Pebble's Tap Room after).

That's a pretty good year in golf if you ask us.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
