Mike Bailey: Troon Golf trots out new junior lesson incentive

You’ve probably heard of golf courses that give complimentary green fees to juniors with paying adults. Now Troon Golf has put another twist on the concept: complimentary golf instruction for kids who take lessons with a paying adult. “Making golf instruction more accessible to junior golfers is a key component to both growing the game and ensuring that young players are developing their skills and having fun,” said John Easterbrook, executive vice president, operations for Troon. “The golf course is an ideal setting for families, and Troon Family Golf makes it easier for people to gather and enjoy quality time as a family.” This novel concept might have a side benefit as well. If a parent or guardian can get a free lesson for a child, perhaps it’s enough incentive for the adult to take a lesson in the first place. Not all lessons are created equal, of course, and some pros are better than others at teaching. But part of the problem in growing the game is that it’s just so darn difficult, and many golfers make it harder by spending money on new equipment rather than getting instruction. Knowing their kids can benefit could be the carrot to get a few more people to the lesson tee in general. But at the very least, it can help get a youngster out on the right foot, and that’s important. While there are plenty of success stories of golfers who are self-taught, it’s really not the formula for success. Starting a kid out early with good fundamentals enhances the chances of proficiency and enjoying the game. The offer is good at participating Troon-managed facilities around the world. In addition to free junior golf instruction, Troon Family Golf still allows juniors to play for free after 3 p.m. when playing with a paying adult. The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
