2013 World Cup Of Golf Team and Outright Betting Preview And Tips

Image
Australia 6/4 Jason Day (7/1 in the outright betting) has said he will play in this week’s World Cup of Golf despite losing eight family members in Typhoon Haiyan last week.  It’s impossible to know if such a tragic loss will boost or hinder Days performance with Adam Scott (3/1 outright)   this week, but on paper the home pair are unbeatable.  Scott is after coming off back to back wins at the Aussie PGA and Talisker Australian Masters which was hosted on the very same course Royal Melbourne as will be used this week. Day had another strong Major season finishing third at The Masters, T2 at the US Open and T8 at the US PGA; he also finished the PGA Tour season very strongly with three consecutive top 15’s in the final three Fed Ex Cup  playoff events coming closest to a win at The Barclays (T4).  Both Scott and Day can draw on the experience of having played the 2011 Presidents Cup at Royal Melbourne. USA 13/2 Matt Kuchar (6/1 outright) wont have the ...

Tiger Woods hits tree during third round of the Turkish Airlines Open

Image
During Tiger Woods' first trip to the Turkish Airlines Open, leaving without the trophy would be a bummer, but leaving with an injury would definitely be worse. That is exactly what happened on Saturday to the No. 1 player in the world, who smoked a tree branch on his follow through after finding himself out of position on the 11th hole during his third round. [Related: Henrik Stenson sounds off on mobile phone problems ] Woods, who started the day a shot back of the leaders, posted a third round 68, but on this birdie-friendly track it means he will have to make up six shots on Frenchman Victor Dubuisson, but the real question is how is the wrist after he made contact with the tree. From the Golf Channel report ... “It’s a little tender,” Woods said. “I smoked it on something. I don’t know what it was, but I hit something hard.” “I just deal with it, just play through it,” Woods said. As you can see in the above GIF, courtesy of Adam Sarson , the reaction looked w...

Jarrod Lyle Overcomes “Shitty Situation” To Play Aussie Masters

Image
It’s absolutely fantastic to have see Jarrod Lyle tee it up at the Australian Masters at Royal Melbourne this week. After two enforced breaks to battle cancer Lyle plays thanks an unusual donor as Lawrence Money explains. "I still stand up to pee," says pro golfer Jarrod Lyle. "And they haven't made any special tees for me at the golf course." It's his private joke. Fact is, Lyle resumes his cancer-stricken golfing career in the Australian Masters at Royal Melbourne this week thanks in part to an umbilical-cord blood transplant from a young girl in Germany. "There were no adult donors on the worldwide registry," he explains. "So I try to make a bit of humour out of a shitty situation, mate." Lyle's easygoing country-boy manner has been sorely tested in the past 20 months. A victim of leukaemia at 16, when he spent nine months in bed, this 32-year-old Shepparton-born golfer was attacked again by the disease in February last year and...

Bringing Golf To Ghana With Tom Kennedy

Image
Tom Kennedy is an Irishman parachuted into Africa with Paul McGinley with the task of bringing golf to Ghana.  Here’s his story. From Ireland To Africa I got a phone call from Brian Shaw, Head Professional of Doonbeg Golf Club, in late 2012 telling me about the opportunity for a Director of Golf for Ghana working as part of a project involving Paul McGinley Golf Design, The R&A and Tullow Oil. When he first told me about it I thought he was taking the mick, as Brian does from time to time! When I found out he was serious and that he thought I would be good enough, and possibly mad enough, to go then I definitely wanted to find out more and also put myself forward and apply for the job. Pic: Spot the Paddy! My CV was forwarded through Brian to Paul McGinley and from there to Joe Bedford, McGinley Golf Design Project Co-ordinator and also Greens Superintendent at Hollystown GC, who went through my application. I met Paul in Dublin just after Christmas and we chatted throug...

New TaylorMade JetSpeed Driver, Fairway, Hybrid Pics

Image
It seems only minutes since the SLDR was released but if TaylorMade are going to increase sales by as much as they say, new releases like the JetSpeed are going to be coming like on a conveyor belt. Here’s the first look. The new JetSpeed line will replace the existing RBZ Stage 2 range. The JetSpeed  comes with Speed Pocket technology, which TM claim reduces spin and increases speed and distance on shots struck low on the clubface. Like with the SLDR, a low, forward CG location, TM claim produces significantly faster ballspeeds than RBZ and RBZ Stage 2 drivers on shots struck low on the face. Loft can be adjusted to 12 settings,  and the stock shaft is light at 49g and very long at 46". JetSpeed fairway woods  will be available in 15-, 17-, 19-, 21-, and 23-degree models but will not offer hosel adjustability. JetSpeed hybrids will be available in 16-, 19-, 22-, 25-, and 28-degree models. TaylorMade JetSpeed Driver Pics JetSpeed Fairway Wood and a couple posted by mygo...

Mayakoba Golf Classic Betting Preview Tips and Predictions. PGA Tour 2014

Image
OHL Classic at Mayakoba, El Camaleon, Riviera Maya, Mexico, Purse: $6,000,000 Related post: 2013 DP World Tour Championship Betting Tips Brian Gay 33/1 Hard to believe that when Brian Gay won the Humana Classic back in January he was set to have one of his crappiest seasons on Tour, but that’s exactly what happened. Gay didn’t manage even one top 20 finish in the 2013 season after winning but has started the wraparound 2014 campaign well with a T4 at the McGladrey Classic last week. That performance included an opening round 63 and if Gay brings his game to this course where he won in 2008 (back then staged in February and tied fifth in 2011, he has to be a good each way shot. Briny Baird 50/1 You could say Briny handed Chris Kirk victory at the McGladrey last week in an embarrassing manner, but I feel differently and empathize with him. Baird was faced with an awkward downhill lie in the bunker on 18; he simply had to take the shot on. Okay he slipped and topped into a hazar...
