British Open SweatersBEN STANSALL/AFPSweater guys in Scotland.The 144th Open Championship â€" more commonly referred to as the British Open â€" is underway in Scotland, at the Old Course at St. Andrews, one of the most famous tracks on the planet.

There's an old saying that goes "no wind, no rain, no golf," and that's certainly set to be the case over the next four days in the birthplace of the game: windy, cool, periodically wet.

That means a jarring sight for Americans watching the tournament from the comfort of summer: sweaters. Lots of sweaters.

Golf is a sport that can be played in bad weather, when it's chilly. So sweaters are an indispensable part of the wardrobe of any gentleman who hopes to stylishly enjoy the game. Like so much else in menswear these days, a trim and fitted look is the way to go. Masters and US Open champ Jordan Spieth and top-10 player Dustin Johnson are both at St. Andrews (Spieth gunning for the third leg of the Grand Slam) and both are rocking their sweaters to perfection.

Spieth's Under Armour version is a tad less snug than Johnson's Adidas number, but that's consistent with the overall style that each man favors. Speith always looks neat, but not too pumped. Johnson, on the other hand, favors a snug aesthetic.

Notice that both guys have gone for a subdued palette. Golf fashion for men is shifting away from some of the louder patterns and colors we've seen in recent years, an homage to the wild and crazy 1970s, toward more of a 1960s Arnold Palmer vibe.

The media centre at the 2013 PGA Show was buzzing yesterday.  Not because of anything that happened at the show.  God forbid! Sarah Stirk Nipple Gate: Navy Top Leaves Viewers Disappointed

London: Sky Sports management this morning issued a statement  apologizing to subscribers after Sarah Stirk wore a navy dress live on air.  It is believed up to 60,000 horny golfers were left limp after they tuned in to final round coverage of the Valero Texas Open in the hope of getting a glimpse of the legendary Stirk starter buttons. “I pay my subscription, I’m bloody well entitled to see Sarah’s Wimbledon strawberries” said factory worker Paul Manning 52 from Hereford. “I even missed the ten minute freeview, coz my mate Derek tweeted that Stirk was going into the shot centre for ten minutes at 11pm”. The Sky statement read: We apologize unreservedly for the navy dress Sarah wore during last nights broadcast, through which no nipples were visible. This was due to a wardrobe malfunction. However we do intend to rectify this during our US Masters coverage and assure viewers that plenty of bridge rivets will be on show, both from Sarah and special guest Colin Montgomeri

Holly Sonders Quits Golf Channel After Contract Talks Fail. Moves To Fox.

Tissues at the ready guys as this will come as a shock to you all that Holly Sonders , the female face of the Golf Channel, has quit and reportedly taken a job with Fox Sports. According to  reports Sonders, who appeared regularly on “Morning Drive” since 2011, could not come to an agreement on a new contract deal with the Golf Channel and was quickly snapped up by Fox Sports where she is expected to work on golf and NFL.
