Man shot by St. Johns deputies near World Golf Village ID'd - First Coast News
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Deputies in St. Johns County reportedly shot and killed a suicidal man near the World Golf Village Monday afternoon.
According to the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the shooting happened at The Legends of World Golf Village located at 225 President's Cup Way.
"They were confronted with an individual who had a large knife," said Commander Chuck Mulligan with the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
SJCSO says deputies responded to a home in the complex after a 911 call from a woman detailed a disturbance. Deputies say they found the suspect with a knife around 4:30 p.m. Deputies said the man, identified as 28-year-old Justin Edward Way, was suicidal.

"I came out the front door and I see all the police yellow tape and sheriff's vehicles," said resident Francisco Abreu.
All of the details leading up to the shooting have not been released yet, but SJCSO says that when the deputies entered the home the man was shot and killed.
Investigators have released a photo of the knife they say was involved.
No deputies were injured.
Both deputies involved have been placed on paid leave, which is routine procedure for deputy.
