Snedeker's driver and putter valued at $34 - Golf Channel (press release) (blog)
Before dropping hundreds at the local golf shop, consider the equipment that Brandt Snedeker used to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Sunday.
A 9-year-old putter.
A 5-year-old driver. Â
And a 4-year-old set of irons.
âI donât like changing equipment,â Snedeker said Sunday. âI like to keep the variables to a minimum, so I know that itâs me thatâs messing up and not the clubs. It works better that way.â
His Bridgestone J40 irons are well-worn, as is his Odyssey White Hot XG Rossie, which Snedeker first discovered in 2005 on the Web.com Tour. Itâs been in play since the â06 season.
What's in the bag: Brandt Snedeker
Sticking with his 2010 TaylorMade Burner SuperFast driver is the most interesting decision, however. Thatâs ancient by todayâs standards, and heâs likely robbing himself of some much-needed distance. (He ranks 113th on Tour in driving distance, at 289.9 yards per pop.)Â
But as Snedeker explains, âIâm never going to be able to overpower a golf course, so until I find a driver that goes straighter than the one Iâm playing, Iâm not going to change.âÂ
Golf Digest crunched some numbers. The current trade-in value for Snedekerâs driver and putter: a whopping $34.Â
When informed of this after his win Sunday, Snedeker replied, âWouldnât shock me. If you see any more, Iâm willing to buy them for that.âÂ
