Snedeker's driver and putter valued at $34 - Golf Channel (press release) (blog)

Before dropping hundreds at the local golf shop, consider the equipment that Brandt Snedeker used to win the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am on Sunday.

A 9-year-old putter.

A 5-year-old driver.

And a 4-year-old set of irons.

“I don’t like changing equipment,” Snedeker said Sunday. “I like to keep the variables to a minimum, so I know that it’s me that’s messing up and not the clubs. It works better that way.”

His Bridgestone J40 irons are well-worn, as is his Odyssey White Hot XG Rossie, which Snedeker first discovered in 2005 on the Web.com Tour. It’s been in play since the ’06 season.

What's in the bag: Brandt Snedeker

Sticking with his 2010 TaylorMade Burner SuperFast driver is the most interesting decision, however. That’s ancient by today’s standards, and he’s likely robbing himself of some much-needed distance. (He ranks 113th on Tour in driving distance, at 289.9 yards per pop.)

But as Snedeker explains, “I’m never going to be able to overpower a golf course, so until I find a driver that goes straighter than the one I’m playing, I’m not going to change.”

Golf Digest crunched some numbers. The current trade-in value for Snedeker’s driver and putter: a whopping $34.

When informed of this after his win Sunday, Snedeker replied, “Wouldn’t shock me. If you see any more, I’m willing to buy them for that.”
